Storage Needs

Most appliance servers (excluding storage appliances) only require a small amount of storage. A typical configuration is one SATA drive, with occasionally a second for redundancy in a RAID 1 configuration. Also, many appliances substitute hard drives for flash memory devices, which are relatively inexpensive, reliable (no moving parts), and capable of being swapped out relatively easily for field upgrades.
